The MasterChef judge, 57, who has lost four stone from ditching fad diets and instead tucking into healthy home cooked meals, drinking less and exercising regularly, believes in a few years he’ll be in optimum health.
On why he embarked on his recent health journey, he said: ‘My motivation at the start was, “I just want to look better on the telly.”
‘But now it’s, “How fit can I actually get? Can I actually have the body of a 20 year old at 60?” I’ve done everything. I’ve done fasting, no carbs, low fat. You name it, I tried it.
‘And yes, you can lose weight short-term. But it’s really uncomfortable and you won’t keep it up because you’re horribly hungry and miserable all the time.’
He added to the Sun: ‘I learnt that it’s much better to wean your self off the crap weight-reduction plan slowly and prepare dinner correct, wholesome meals, as you’re much more more likely to succeed and benefit from the change.
‘I’m not speaking about lettuce leaves right here, I’m taking about meals you wish to eat.’
The TV host, who additionally presents the BBC’s Eat Effectively For Much less, determined to vary his unhealthy way of life in 2017 after being informed by his physician that his weight might give him a coronary heart assault.
He said: ‘Some people say, “I’m overweight and I’m happy.” Well I was overweight and I wasn’t happy.
‘And I say to those people, “If you could take a pill right now and be three stone lighter, would you take it?” And of course they would.

‘The trouble is, people think weight loss is going to be difficult, because they’ve tried it previously and they’ve tried a really restrictive diet that is uncomfortable.’
Gregg, who two years ago posted a topless selfie which showed-off his weight loss, which went viral, also admitted that he feels that he feels more physically appealing after the body transformation.
He admitted that he feels ‘more attractive’ and he’s ‘nicer to be around’ after the transformation, adding: ‘Let’s be honest, my wife Anna [who is also the mother of his three-year-old son, Sid) is 22 years younger than me and while I can’t change my age, at least I can change what I look like.’
Two years after he posted the topless picture, Gregg – whose frequent hardcore exercise sessions with a personal trainer include chin-ups, bench presses, kettlebells and press-ups – says he loves showing off his body and has no plans to stop.
He revealed that some people told him not to share the topless pic, but he did anyway in a bid to ‘celebrate success’, which he thinks is important after you’ve ‘improved your health so dramatically’.
‘It got huge hits online and people got really inspired by it.’
The TV star is going to continue sharing progress snaps ‘every birthday’ to chart his success, because he feels ‘really proud’ of how he looks at his age.
‘I’m approaching 60 and I know for sure I’ve been scared of my age before and scared for my health. But now I’m embracing ageing.’
